Vein Thrombosis
I visited my friend Mr. Sainel at his home. It is terrible to see him bed ridden. Here is a man who as a telecommunications expert, who worked in the field and at installations in the hills in Malaysia and is now practically immobile. He looked as healthy as might be his age before he began on his pilgrimage flight to Mecca.
I chatted with Mr. Sainel at his bedside and from what I surmised he has fallen victim to vein thrombosis on account of the 8 hour air flight. He admitted that throughout the entire air journey he did not get off his seat to stretch his legs.
Although I have read about what extended hours of being seated in an aircraft may do to the blood vessels, this is my first encounter with someone close to me who suffers from it. I made a phone call to my family doctor. The doctor immediately attributed Mr. Sainel’s condition and it matched what I had surmised.
In the meantime and until Mr. Sainel feels physically stronger to make a trip to the hospital for a blood clot scan, I have asked his wife to give him fresh ginger water and fresh lime juice to drink.
Doctor that I am not but I have had several successes in helping others to overcome their malaise with ginger water. Fresh lime juice taken over a long period, it dilutes the blood. This is just a stop gap measure.
I also advised his wife that while he is lying on his bed, she should help him to elevate his legs on some cushions to ease the soreness that he feels in his feet.
Most importantly and as my family doctor too advised, Mr. Sainel must have a blood clot scan performed to allay any lingering fears of it being present in his blood stream. It also would be an early preventive before disaster hits him.
God speed my good friend and get back on your feet healthily.
