How to add Dropcaps to Blogger Post?
This is something that I came across by chance rather than that I was searching the interet for it. It is called the “dropcap” and there were a few variations that were explained. Of course I took the easiest. You know one should take heed in another Confucius wise saying -
When things may be made easy
Why make life difficult?
The good thing about this capdrop as I later discovered is that it does not need to be worked into the Blog’s template (even though the author at the dropcap site mentions about where to place it.)
What I did was to place the script in the Post template box. That way, whenever a new article is to be posted and the Create post is opened, the capdrop script is right there at the top of the empty HTML box.
If you need this to be explained more clearly
Do this. It will not destroy your Blog. If you do not like it, discard it and return to where you were before.
1. How to get the script to work?
The script below needs to be placed in the Post template box which is by another name better known as the Post signature.
[span style="font-weight:bold;"][p][span style="float:left;color:#D4D4C7;font-size:100px;line-height:70px;padding-top:2px;font-family: Times, serif, Georgia;"][/span][/p][/span]
notes:
(a) please change all [ ] to symbols in the above script when placing HTML script in the Post template.
(b) because this article is being typed on a HTML text editor, all symbols have been altered to [ ] to enable the rest of the how to? to be displayed in a text manner.
(c)later, you may change the color, font size, line height, padding, font family to suit your Blog’s colour scheme and personal preference)
2. How to get to the Post template box?
sign in to your blogsite,
at the dashboard select SETTINGS,
then select FORMATTING
go right to the bottom of the FORMATTING page to arrive at “Post Template”
Place the html script given above inside the Post template box.
click on Save Settings. You are almost done.
3. How to use the capdrop script?
When you create a new Post, use the Edit HTML box to type out your article.
The Edit HTML box will open with the capdrop script that you had moments ago saved inside the Post template box.
Assuming that this sentence is an example of the start of your article.
The alphabet A will go between the html script Georgia;”]….[/span]
as in -
Georgia;”]A[/span]
The rest of the sentence will be placed after [/span] and before [/p]
as in -
[/span]ssuming this this sentence is an example this is the start of your article.
[/p]
Hence, the entire first sentence of your Post would be in this manner -
Georgia;”]A[/span]ssuming this this sentence is an example this is the start of your article.[/p]
The mouse cursor while you continue to type the rest of your article must always be before the
.
At the end of your article, please ensure that the
is the last HTML command that closes the entire article and the capdrop script as well before you decide to Publish Post.
4. Try it now! If Ϣįńďḿįłł can, so can you.
(In anycase, should something have gone inadvertently amiss and the capdrop fails to be displayed, you could return to Edit your Post and make the needed correction.)
